I was apart of design camp by design lab in the summer of 2022 !! This weeklong residential experience was amazing and informative and I created many fun pieces that utilized ideation process and design process :)

6 days of immersion into the study of design at NC State Design Camp by Design Lab led me through 5 disciplines and created 5 projects I am very happy with. Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Art and Design. Each project had a prompt and I've included process work to show the evolution of my ideas and how the finals came to be. The theme for this week was space and one thing I tried to practice was keeping a flow throughout my work and putting a bit of myself and my personal style into my pieces :)

  1. Landscape Architecture- redesign an outdoor classroom on nc state grounds with a creation story theme and create a collage to embody the feeling of it. -Here I created a classroom based on the Inuit creation story that fits into the space for a open classroom feel where everyone is equal and it is a discussion circle

  2. Architecture- create a space base to be on a specific planet and work around conditions. -My group had the moon Titan and we created an egg shaped base to house 24 people. I created the floorplans and layout of the Kitchen and dining area

  3. Graphic Design- create a plant to live on a randomly assigned planet in the solar system and make a font to go along with it. -My planet was Venus and I played off the idea that it is Earth's "evil twin" by making it beautiful with nods to the goddess it references and having it turn deadly to catch prey.

  4. Industrial Design- make a model for a space lamp that would utilize circadian rhythm lightbulbs for astronauts. - My idea was to make a layered lamp with paper the way that people do scotch tape portraits so that it could showcase a picture of the astronauts home or family. I did my mockup of my window in my room at home

  5. Art and Design- illustrate an image to go along with a news story of your choice. I chose "ON OCTOBER 9, 2009, a 2-ton rocket smashed into the moon traveling at 9,000 kilometers per hour. As it exploded in a shower of dust and heated the lunar surface to hundreds of degrees Celsius, the jet-black crater into which it plummeted, called Cabeus, briefly filled with light for the first time in billions of years. The crash was no accident" - I created this design of a hidden futuristic city with an alien girl protecting the astronaut that survived the crash from the atmosphere. I wanted minimalism and bright colors since I usually work in more mute tones
